5 tips to improve self-love
Valentine's Day is the perfect time to express your love. Love for others, yes, but also love for yourself. Why is that? Because all too often, as a woman or a person who identifies as a woman, we think of others before ourselves. So, here are our 5 best tips to help you not forget yourself, but also to increase your feeling of self-love.
1. Stop comparing yourself.
Not always easy in this modern era. It feels like you have to be the best at everything. The super-mom, the best girlfriend, the best at this and the best at that. Top it with social medias that only show the good sides in other people's lives and oops, we compare ourselves to Becky who's building her dream farmhouse up north. We try to remember that we too are living beautiful moments. Our life is unique and original.
2. Not caring about other people's opinions
I think it's the hardest thing, because we think our potential and value is in other people's eyes. Forget it, life is so short, it's not worth taking so much time trying to please everyone. It also means forgiving ourselves for our past mistakes and our less beautiful moments.
3. Our value is not dictated by our appearance.
No matter what your weight, skin color, hair or physical challenges are, your value is EQUAL to all of us. The inside is much more important than your physical appearance.
4. Saying goodbye to toxic people
If the people around you aren't your best cheerleaders, it's time to say goodbye. It's hard to cultivate self-esteem when there's so much energy spent defending yourself against toxic people. Breaking up with that kind of people can be very painful, but necessary.
5. Allowing yourself to be exactly who you are.
Allowing ourselves to experience our emotions, to be the authentic person that we are deep down inside and not be embarrassed to ask for the things we need. We are all unique and have different needs. We must therefore give ourselves the right to just BE and to live our lives to the fullest.
So we invite you to do something for yourself today. A small action just for you and no, going on errands doesn't count. Tell us what you are going to do today in the comments if you feel like it.
