Our 3 wellness resolutions that you can actually keep

Ah, yes: January. Each time it rolls around, we pull out our journals and notepads, ready to commit to ambitious resolutions we swear to uphold for 365 days––failing to remember that within those 365 days, there are bound to be slip-ups. And slip-ups turn into abandonment real quick if we let ourselves get discouraged by unattainable and exhausting goals.

See, the true secret to a good resolution isn’t about writing down a lengthy plan. All it boils down to is keeping it simple, and setting a goal that you can *actually* reach.

Here are a three of our favorites:

Commit to taking more time for yourself

In 2020, we held on by a thread thanks to selfcare. This year, while we know it’s easier said than done, make it a priority to continue carving out time for yourself every single day. This can be as simple a 20-minute home workout or a brisk walk; it can also be a long bath, a therapeutic chat with a friend, or a full weekend getaway.

    By committing to filling your own cup first, not only will you be able to pour into others, but you’ll be in a much better position to achieve the other types of traditional resolutions we tend to want to uphold every new year (start working out again, drinking less, reading more, etc.).



    Taking proper care of your skin

    Regardless of your age, establishing a skincare routine that is properly suited for your needs is a great way to start off the year. To put your best face forward, it is essential to find products that properly cleanse, tone, hydrate and rejuvenate your complexion without damaging your skin barrier. We suggest opting for natural products, but remember that having good skincare products isn’t always enough: for your products to be most effective, you also need to apply them in the correct order. According to professional makeup artist Bobbi Brown, your routine will depend on your skin type, the ingredients in your products, and the time of application. A good rule of thumb, she says, is to “apply in order of texture, from thinnest to thickest, since thin products won’t be able to penetrate thicker ones”.A little skin TLC goes a long way in making you feel like your best self, so as the old saying goes: better late than never!

    Let go of what no longer serves you

    Shame, guilt, toxic relationships, and more: we’re leaving it behind in 2020! This year, continue to uphold your promise to empower women around the world and make sure to carve out boundaries that respect both your physical and mental health.     It hasn't been an easy year, but 2020 has allowed us to get out of our comfort zone and show our appreciation for the little things. And this may be exactly what we needed...
