How to properly layer your skincare products

Layering your skincare routine is important to ensure that each product is properly absorbed and has the desired effect. Here are some general guidelines for layering your skincare:

Cleanse: Start with a gentle cleanser to remove dirt, oil and makeup from your skin.

Tone: Use a toner to help balance your skin's pH level and remove any remaining impurities.

Serum: Apply a serum to address specific skin concerns, such as fine lines, dark spots or dehydration. Serums are usually light in texture and contain high concentrations of active ingredients, so they should be applied before heavier products.

Eye cream: Use an eye cream to treat any specific problems around the eyes, such as dark circles or fine lines. Apply it gently with your ring finger, as this finger tends to apply less pressure.

Moisturizer: Apply a moisturizer to hydrate and protect your skin. Choose a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type, such as a light gel for oily skin or a rich cream for dry skin.

Sunscreen: Apply sunscreen during the day to protect your skin from UV damage. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and apply it liberally.

When layering your skincare routine, it's important to wait a few minutes between each step to allow the product to be fully absorbed into your skin. Also, be aware of any interactions between products. For example, if you are using a retinol product, you may want to avoid using it at the same time as a vitamin C serum, as this can reduce its effectiveness.
